Milk can safely be collected and stored in traditional Somali vessels, known as Haruubgaal in Somali.

Village Milk Centre in Beer village

Somaliland's first Village Milk Centre, built by VETAID in Beer village.  The centre acts as a focus for villagers’ milk activities including testing the quality of the milk, training sessions on safe milk collection and cleaning containers used for storing and transporting milk.

In Beer village, Fatuma Ismail Handule has been taught to test the quality of the milk she collects each morning, ensuring it is safe for human consumption.
