Run on Sunday 23rd May 2010 - Each mile you run could buy a goat to supply milk to a family in rural Africa!

Dairy goats provide a reliable source of nutrition, through meat and milk, and families supplement the household income through the sale of any excess produce.  Through VETAID, families receive basic training in animal health care and the goats are regularly vaccinated to prevent disease.  Run the marathon and help us support more vulnerable communities.

The Albert Bartlett Edinburgh Marathon is the second largest full marathon in the UK.  The 26.2 miles offer runners the ultimate personal challenge with a spectacularly scenic route, taking them past many of Edinburgh’s famous landmarks and tourist attractions: a beautiful coastline, an extinct volcano, a Royal Palace and a grandstand finish.

How to enter
Entries for the marathon open on 1st September 2009 and all categories will be available.  If you would like to run for VETAID using one of our charity assured places, please email leonie@vetaid.org for information.  All we are asking is a £20 non-refundable deposit, then you pledge to raise at least £250 in sponsorship.

Congratulations to our runners who took part in the 2009 Albert Bartlett Edinburgh Marathon for VETAID Lori Taylorin such warm conditions!

Canadian Lori Taylor, ran in the marathon to fundraise for us, finishing in a time of 04:36:22.

Running for VETAID was a special experience for Lori, and despite the problems with the heat and lack of water, she tells us that when things were especially hard I remembered about how hot it is in Africa and how hard things are there for people; and, it kind of put things into perspective...seeing all the charity t-shirts, all the struggles of other runners...the marathon was purely mental, my spirit was good, my cardio was good, my legs just would not run the way I wanted them to! I thank-you for your support and this amazing experience...running with ‘VETAID’ on my chest made my heart soar with pride! I am humbled; and, honored to have the opportunity to make a tiny difference to your organization!”

Lori is pictured here at a celebratory home-coming dinner in Canada with her friends and family, wearing her VETAID vest, Canadian hat and her medal.
